Why we do the work we do.
Why do we work so hard to provide solar power to Gambian hospitals and clinics? Simple. To help patients like Ansumana.
Ansu was brought to the hospital by his worried parents. With vomiting and diarrhea, he was dehydrated and had lost weight. But with solar power, the hospital has lights to treat patients day or night, they have refrigeration to properly store drugs and medications, and the hospital laboratory can run diagnostic tests any time of the day or night. Ansu is doing well now with proper treatment, and he is in the nutrition ward to be “plumped up” as the nurses say. In a few days he will be discharged to go home, healthy and happy. For hospitals and clinics in The Gambia, solar power saves lives.
