Get Involved

It’s simple math. PUG has always been driven by grassroots support ordinary people united by a common purpose. That’s how we’re installing solar systems at hospitals and clinics, training local communities, and saving lives And we need you with us to keep going.

Power Up Gambia has accomplished a great deal in The Gambia and much of that is due to the hard work and dedication of our volunteers and interns. All that hard work benefits our interns as well – many former interns have gone on to take leadership roles in other organizations as a result of their experience working with Power Up Gambia.

International Volunteer and Interns

Power Up Gambia works with the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University to place student interns and international cooperative work study students in our projects in The Gambia. Working out of our home base at Bwiam Hospital, over 38 students have had the opportunity to work and live in The Gambia while assisting us in our projects. Want to learn more? Contact us at

In addition to students, we have had professionals in the medical, engineering and solar engineering field volunteer to help. Opportunities are limited, but if you are interested in how solar power projects can benefit hospitals in developing countries and have a skill set that can make these projects happen, we would love to hear from you.
